Modern opened its doors for business in Calgary, Alberta with humble beginnings starting in the basement of the Jomaa family household.
1988
Modern opened its first Edmonton Showroom location in downtown.
1993
Modern hosted its first industry conference in Banff, Alberta.
1995
Modern expanded west into British Columbia with the opening of the Burnaby Showroom location.
2005
Modern was presented with Deloitte Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies award.
2006
The Edmonton market's growth, increased demand for a second location and Modern answered the call by opening up the Edmonton West Showroom location.
Modern opened its fourth Showroom in Victoria, BC.
Modern hosted The Lake Louise symposium.
Modern made it to the Deloitte Regional Finals for Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies.
2011
In February, Modern Beauty celebrated its 25th year anniversary!
In November, Modern celebrated 25 years in Cancun at the Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort.
2012
In January, Modern Beauty established the Beauty of Giving charity program. By joining forces with some of the largest manufacturers in the industry and with the support of our generous clients, in the first year Modern and the Beauty of Giving were able to raise over $85,500 for some of the most reputable and highly regarded Canadian charity organizations.
2013
The Calgary Head Office was relocated to a brand new building, equipped with classrooms and facilities to support Modern Academy.
In September, Modern celebrated with a Grand Opening party to welcome our clients to our newly expanded Head Office.
To accommodate the growing beauty market in Calgary, we expanded with new stores in Northeast Calgary and Red Deer, AB.
Modern hosted its first Modern Rocks the Runway event in Vancouver, BC.
2015
Modern's website is re-launched with a new online store!
Modern opened a Showroom location in Medicine Hat, AB.
2016
In May, Modern celebrated its 30th anniversary by hosting Modern Rocks the Runway, the largest exclusive hair show in Canada at the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary, AB.
Modern continues its expansion in Western Canada by opening new Showroom locations in Lethbridge and Grande Prairie, AB with more locations set to open by the end of the year!
2018
Modern reached it's 20th with the opening of Vancouver Downtown.
2020
